Winter Reading Program |
Dec. 28-Feb. 28
Track your reading this winter, and you could win prizes! Registration for our winter reading program starts Dec. 28. You can sign up online or in person. In addition to the grand prizes, you can win prizes as you tally your books or minutes read.
Here are the basics: Babies to readers in 5th grade: Every 10 books or 200 minutes read earns an entry into the prize drawing, up to 50 books or 1,000 minutes. Readers in grades 6-12: (Choose this option or the one for adults.) Every 200 minutes read earns you an entry into the prize drawing, up to 1,000 minutes. Readers ages 18 and up: Four books read earns you an entry into the prize drawing. At eight books, get another entry. |

Give the Gift of Warmth |
Accepting donations Dec. 1-31
This December donate hats, mittens, gloves and scarves to decorate the library’s Christmas trees. We are accepting donations of all sizes for babies to adults. The library will pass along all collected items to West Allis-West Milwaukee School District’s Community Closets. |

December brings more Books! Live with Katie. Join her beginning Nov. 30 for videos of suggestions of books to give, and live on Dec. 2 with general tips for giving great books. Then she will be live again Dec. 30 with reading resolutions. As we look forward to 2021, she’ll help you plan out a year filled with terrific reading! |

Winter Movie Bracket |
Dec. 1-30
Looking for a distraction from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? Then join us for a winter holiday madness bracket! We’ve selected 32 winter holiday movies, and you’ll have a chance to decide the winner! Brackets will be available in the library starting Nov. 30, and online voting will start Dec 1. We’ll eliminate movies one by one, until the greatest movie is left standing. Stop in the library every week or check online for new brackets. Plus, every time your pick wins, you could win a $10 Kwik Trip gift card. We'll have multiple winners each round. |

Winter-themed coloring packets are available at the adult information desk the third Thursday of each month. Take a packet home, and post your completed works of art on social media before the next coloring club for a chance to win a prize! |

Staying Safe at the Library |
The library is open. To keep patrons and staff safe, please keep in mind the following when visiting the library: Visits should be kept to 30 minutes or less. Limited onsite services are available, including browsing and checkout, copier and fax services, and reference services. Masks are required for patrons and library staff. A limited number of public computers are available for use. Computer time is limited to one hour and one login per day. Study rooms are not accessible at this time. Limited seating is available. Toys and coloring supplies have been removed from the Children’s Department. Curbside service continues to be available. For the most up-to-date information, including our hours, visit our website. |
