Celebrate Thanksgiving a week early with the staff from the West Allis Public! We'll share traditions, recipes, and games from our family's Thanksgivings with you. Each day we will post a new idea for your Thanksgiving celebration.

Virtual Books & Coffee 

Saturday, November 14 at 10:00 AM

Join us on Zoom for a discussion of the book Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk.  Medicare 101

Monday, November 16 at 3:30 PM

We are partnering with the Milwaukee County Department on Aging to present a virtual webinar covering Medicare basics. Learn about options and benefits as well as how to enroll and receive free enrollment assistance. For a link to the event, visit our calendar of events page found HERE.


Fairy Tale - Virtual Escape Room 

Monday, November 16 - Friday, November 20

Escape the Fairytale and enter a raffle to win your very own copy of The Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. Feel free to complete the room by yourself or with a group. The link to the escape room will be provided on our website and all West Allis Library social media pages.

 Coloring Club at Home 

Thursday, November 19

We'll provide the coloring pages, you provide the creativity! Coloring packets are available at the Adult Information desk the third Thursday of each month. Take a packet home to color and post your completed works of art on social media before the next coloring club for a chance to WIN A PRIZE! 


Cooped Up Crafts (Adults & Teens) 

Friday, November 20 at 3 PM

Take and Make craft kits for teens and adults! This month we are making a cement pumpkin tea light holder! Registration is required and begins on November 3. Register by calling 414-302-8500 or online HERE. Pick up your Take and Make kit between November 16 - 20. Those who are registered will be provided with a Zoom meeting link to join and craft with library staff and others! Those of you who do not register can still participate with your own supplies! A how-to video will be posted online after the event.


 Morning Meditation (Adults & Teens) 

Friday, November 27 

Enjoy a short meditation video the day after Thanksgiving. The meditation will offer some simple ways to decompress and destress after the busy day. A video will be posted on Facebook and Instagram at 9:30 AM.


For Teens --------------


 Winter Skincare for Teens

Friday, November 13 from 3:30 - 4:30 PM

Winter is coming; mask wearing and hand washing aren't going away. With the change in weather your skin may need a little TLC. In this program we will talk about ways to care for your skin, discuss recipes for homemade scurbs and masks, and make a few to keep your skin fresh and clean. Registration is required and begins October 30, kits will be available to pick up at the library for registered participants the week of November 8. Program is limited to 15 participants in grades 6 - 12. Register by calling 414-302-8500 or online HERE. The link for the Zoom event will be emailed prior to the event.


Monthly Teen Mixer 

Thursday, November 19 from 4:30 - 5:30 PM

This month we will be testing out different Barbeque sauce flavors! Registration for a kit begins November 5. Pick-up your kit the week of November 16, save the kit for the meet-up and discuss the sauces. Register by calling 414-302-8500 or online HERE. Check Out Our Storywalk!

Stop by the library and check out the new StoryWalk on the parking lot side of the building! What is a StoryWalk? StoryWalk is a children's book posted on signs, page by page, so kids and adults can enjoy a story outside while on a walk. As you stroll down the sidewalk, you're directed to the next page in the story. This month's story is Bear Says Thanks by Karma Wilson.

The library is OPEN. Please keep in mind the following when visiting the library:** 

  • Visits should be kept at 30 minutes or less.
  • Limited onsite services are currently available, including browsing & checkout, copier and FAX services, and reference services.
  • At this time, masks are required for patrons and library staff. 
  • A limited number of public computers are available for use. Computer time is limited to 1 hour and only 1 login per day.
  • Study rooms are not accessible at this time.
  • Limited seating is available.
  • Toys and coloring supplies have been removed from the Children's Department.
  • Curbside service continues to be available.
