RPL Expanding Hours Sept. 7

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, Rodman Public Library will extend its hours at both its main and branch facilities. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the library will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Hours on Thursday and Friday will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, the branch location will be open on Sundays in October through April from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

As a reminder, both the Main and Branch libraries will be closed Monday, Sept. 6 in honor of Labor Day.

Introducing Maker Monday

Maker Monday, a new in-person craft program for adults, will  debut at Rodman Public Library on Sept. 20. Led by Nicole Brown, Monday Maker sessions will be held at the Main Library once a month at 7:00 p.m. on select Mondays. Each Maker Monday workshop will feature a different craft as well as various methods and techniques.

Golden Age of Steam

'Alliance's Golden Age of Steam' Rolls into RPL Sept. 13

“Alliance’s Golden Age of Steam,” the second of three programs of the Alliance Railroad History series, will roll into Rodman Public Library’s Main Auditorium for two presentations on Monday, Sept. 13. Sponsored by the Alliance Area Preservation Society, Robb Hyde will discuss the impact of railroads in Alliance between the Civil War and World War I, an era commonly known as the “Golden Age of Steam,” and explain how in many ways it was Alliance’s golden age as well.

Vinyl Club

Alliance Vinyl Club Returns

Do you collect vinyl records and enjoy listening to your favorites with like-minded people? Join the Alliance Vinyl Club on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium at Rodman Public Library where you can spin your favorite records. Due to time limitations, only a few selections per person will be played. A turntable will be provided, but we ask that you handle your personal records and assume any liability for normal wear and scratches. Alliance Vinyl Club, which will meet every third Wednesday of the month, provides the opportunity to listen to music, talk and hang out. No registration is required. Books and Coffee Book Club

The Books and Coffee Book Club at Rodman Public Library is changing its meeting time starting in September. Readers are invited to join the discussion group every second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Rodman Branch Library, 1808 W. State St. The next book club meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. The selected title will be The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict. Copies are available at the Main and Branch libraries, through the library’s catalog, or digitally through the Ohio Digital Library and Hoopla. For more information, call 330-821-1313.

Evening Book Discussion Group

The Evening Book Discussion Group, which meets every fourth Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Rodman Public Library, will hold its next session on Monday, Sept. 27 when the selection will be The Rose Code by Kate Quinn. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 107.

Coming in October

On Oct. 19, librarian Ashley Moch will  lead the first meeting of the True Crime Junkies Book Club. The group, which plans to meet every third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library, will discuss I'll Be Gone By Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara.
