Smash Brothers Gaming Tournament in March for Teens

Teens! Engage the rage at the 2nd Annual Smash Brothers Brawl Tournament on Saturday, March 21st at 2 pm in the Large Meeting Room.  Think you got what it takes to brawl off the screen and kick some butt across twelve graphic enriched platforms. Well if you do, join us at the Quincy Public Library for some smooth Smash Brothers maneuvers as players seek the title in this elimination round event. Players will get a chance to play at least two rounds of play as they are systematically and figuratively knocked out of play. Only one winner will be left standing. Will it be you?

Teens To Read The Lightening Thief in March

The Teen Book Club meets during Wii Wednesday every third Wednesday of the month. If you are interesting in joining a Teen Book Discussion group, please join us. On March 18th at 4:00pm, in the Large Meeting Room, the group is reading The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson is a half-blood. That means he is half mortal/half God. So when someone steals Zeus’s Thunderbolt, Percy is suspect number one. Percy has just 10 days to find the missing Thunderbolt and come to terms with the father who abandoned him, Poseidon. Join us for a lively discussion of a YA classic.

February Teen Advisory Board Minutes

The February TAB meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm. The meeting was short due to a presentation on bullying by Kathy Nelson from Chaddock. Please continue to bring your friends to Wii and TAB and please be respectful when you are in the library. The Friends of the Library have purchased a new Switch Nintendo Gaming System for Wii Wednesdays that is now fully operational. A thank you card will be sent around for TAB members to sign to give to the Friends for their generous donation. Notification of programs will be sent through a group email entitled TAB group. This email group should begin in March.  The newsletter was also discussed and Deborah emphasized the need for TAB members to be invested in the newsletter. This means that TAB members need to submit articles in order to keep it up and running. Please submit any news, articles or art work to Deborah before the deadline. Thanks to the volunteers who helped with the Big Read Kick-off and the Teen Reach program. We could not do what we do without our teen volunteers.  The book for Teen Book Club is The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. Please let Deborah know if you need a copy. Spring programming is set. The program for March is a Smash Brothers Tournament on Saturday, March 21st from 2-4 pm. In April the library will host a Teen Iron Chef competition with Ramen Noodles on Saturday,  April 18th at 2 pm and in May we will host a Library Scavenger Hunt on May 16th at 2 pm. Please be sure to check the calendar for all the teen events. Members were also invited to think about programming for the upcoming Summer Reading Program as well as the fall. The meeting ended at 5:00 pm.
